Enclosure Types:
NEMA TYPE 1 – A general purpose enclosure intended for use indoors. The primary purpose is to prevent accidental contact with the enclosed electronics.
NEMA TYPE 3R – An outdoor enclosure that is rainproof and ice resistant. The specific purpose is to keep rain and snow from damaging the enclosed electronics.
NEMA TYPE 4 – A water and dust tight enclosure intended for use indoors or outdoors to protect the enclosed electronics against splashing water, seepage of water, falling or hose direct water and severe condensation.
NEMA TYPE 4X – A corrosion-resistant enclosure that has the same properties as a nema type 4 enclosure.
NEMA TYPE 12 – A dust tight and drip tight industrial use enclosure. Intended to protect the electronics against fibers, flyings, lint, dust, dirt and light splashing, seepage and dripping of noncorrosive liquids.
NEMA TYPE 13 – An oil tight and dust tight indoor enclosure. Designed to house pilot devices, push buttons, and switches, and to protect these devices against lint, dust and seepage.
